Bellagio in Italy is surrounded by water on three sides, which is why many visitors go to the town by water.
Bellagio, the Italian town, overlooking lake Como oozes Italian elegance. A must visit when you are in the area. I got there by ferry, left my car in Varenna and then with the boat across. Highly recommend cause the beauty of this town is breathtaking from the water. Only a couple of euro’s for a ticket for one-person.

It’s a one-hour drive north of Milan. Italians come here for the day for a breath of fresh air and to soak up the fabulous views. I recommend a stay around lake Como, not in the expensive area, but in one of the sleepy, little towns along lake Como. There are loads. And then to people watch and lavish yourself in Italian luxury, you visit Bellagio on a day-trip.
Put sneakers on, I wore flipflops. Not the best shoes to walk the little steep cobble stone streets. Get lost in the small streets and enjoy. In addition to a beautiful old center, villas with a unique charm, surrounded by beautiful parks and enchanting landscapes.
Bellagio has about 3000 inhabitants, but in the summer thousands of tourists, from all over the world, are added.
The historical town of Bellagio is always busy, a lot of tourists, a lot of famous people have villa’s in the area and I saw a film crew too. Totally understand, cause it is beautiful. Too bad I don’t have ‘George Clooney money’ but if I did, I would have a villa here too.
The amount of tourists could put you off as an avid traveler, but I suggest ignoring the ‘tourist prices’ you pay and enjoy the view, while paying 3,50 euro, plus tip, for a simple coke. But the good news: you get amazing waterfront view.
Bellagio is one of the most beautiful towns on Lake Como, so put it on your must-see list during a holiday on Lake Como!
